Sentinel is a spam filtering software which acts as a POP3 proxy between the mail client and the mail server. It works with all leading mail clients like Outlook Express, MS Outlook. Eudora, PegasusMail etc.
FEATURES
- Supports user-defined whitelists which contain email-ids which will never be checked for spam. These email ids or domains are regarded by the user as valid email ids from which all mail is acceptable.
- Supports Source blacklists which are updated from RBL and ORDB databases from around the world. Users can also add their own blacklisted IP addresses and domains
- Supports Subject blacklists which contain words, phrases which are almost always spam related. Users can add their own subject phrases
- Supports From blacklists which contain email ids from which spam is regularly generated. Users can add their own email ids to block certain senders.
- Does several checks on each mail for spam analysis like:
- Valid MX Record
- Base64 Encoding
- Caps and Exclamation in Subject
- Dollar and Digits in Subject
- Dummy HTML comment tags
- Email id of receiver in subject
- Extra HTML Comment Tags
- Presence of 'guaranteed' in subject
- ISO character Encoding of subject
- Hyperlinked GIFs in HTML email
- Map Tags in HTML mail
- PGP Encryption key in mail
- PIF Attachments
- SCR Attachments

- Junk random characters after end of HTML tag
- Spam handling options. Once a spam mail is identified it sends a small notification mail to the client explaining the reason why the mail was blocked. Then according to user-defined settings the mail can be

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Sentinel works on any Windows 98/NT/2000/XP machine with at least 128 Mb RAM and an internet connection and JDK 1.4 installed. The installation is the same for a single user who has installed Sentinel on a single machine or for a machine which will act as an antispam server for other machines in the network.
